The High Tor Players are delighted to announce our spring production:
As You Like It
by
William Shakespeare
playing at Matlock Imperial Rooms from Wednesday 29th April to Saturday 2nd May, 2026.
One of Shakespeare's most celebrated comedies. When Rosalind is banished by her friend Celia's father, Duke Frederick, both women flee to the Forest of Arden disguised as "Ganymede" and "Aliena." There, Rosalind encounters Orlando, with whom she had fallen in love before her banishment. While disguised as Ganymede, she tests Orlando's love by having him woo her as if she were Rosalind. The play culminates in a quadruple wedding after Rosalind reveals her true identity.
Join the High Tor Players for an entertaining evening of Shakespeare's theatre, brought forward into the 1980s New Romantic era!
We will aim to present a A Pay What You Can Saturday matinee performance for our spring production. This means there is no fixed ticket price — instead, you simply pay whatever amount you feel able to contribute. It’s our way of making theatre accessible to everyone, regardless of budget. Whether it’s a little or a lot, every contribution supports the High Tor Players and helps us continue bringing live theatre to our community. If you would like more information about this performance please get in touch.
Ticket bookings will open early 2026.

If you would like to join us either on stage or backstage or would just like more details you can contact us here.
We perform 2-3 times a year either touring villages local to Matlock and Matlock itself or performing at one location. We welcome people of all ages whether you are interested in acting, directing, lighting, sound, stage managing, props or front of house. Here are the comments from someone who joined recently:
"I don’t know whether the meeting is an appropriate point/time, but I did want to record somewhere how great the group is for new members such as myself. Everyone has been so welcoming, something that is certainly not the case with all groups. Knowing this might just encourage others to become involved. If you could thank everyone for me, that would be tremendous."
